The Mayor’s Welcome is an annual
event hosted by the International Friendship Committee of
Stillwater. The purpose of the event is to allow
various community and campus organizations that
provide specific services of interest to international students to
welcome new and returning international students to the community
and acquaint them with all the activities the community has to offer
them. Each year there are about 25 exhibition tables, which
present information on programs for new international students. The
event is completely free and includes entertainment such as Native
American dancers, Country-Western dance lessons and a whip
demonstration from the Pawnee Bill Ranch.
Refreshments
are provided by local merchants through donations. The event is sponsored each year by the Office of International
Students and Scholars, the School of International Studies and the
City of Stillwater in addition to the local merchants that provide
donations. This year’s event will be
held on August 19, 2006 at 6 p.m. in the Wes Watkins Center on the
OSU campus.
